Mosquito as a vector for Malaria

Mosquitoes are one of the most hated insects out there. Thanks to Plasmodium their is just one more reason to hate them.

Of the 400 species that make up the genus  Anopheles, 30-40 species can transmit the four different species of the Protiss Genus Plasmodium. When a female Anopheles bites you, if infected, it will transmit Plasmodium cells in to your blood stream, infecting you with Malaria. Malaria is one of the worst chronic health problems that plague the world today. Annually Malaria infects 300 million people world wide, and kills more than a million of them.
